Compliance Group 1: NJ attorneys with birthdays between January 1 - June 30 must complete their required CLE requirement in ODD numbered years by December 31 and report their compliance during the next year's attorney registration process.
Compliance Group 2: NJ attorneys with birthdays between July 1 - December 31 must complete their required CLE in EVEN numbered years by December 31 and report their compliance during the next year's attorney registration process.
New Jersey Residents
Attorneys residing in New Jersey can take up to 12 of the 24 required NJ State Bar CLE hours online.
Non Resident Attorneys
Non resident New Jersey attorneys may take all 24 hours online if the meet BCLE 201:8. Under BCLE 201:8 lawyers who reside in, work in, and are licensed in a mandatory CLE jurisdiction that allows for 100% of CLE courses to be taken through alternative verifiable learning formats shall, through reciprocity, be able to satisfy their CLE obligation in New Jersey through 100% alternative verifiable learning formats.
Newly Admitted Attorneys
Within a newly admitted lawyer's first two year compliance period, within the general 24 credit CLE requirement, a newly admitted New Jersey attorneys must take 16 credit hours in any 6 of the following 12 subject areas - NJ administrative law, NJ labor and employment law, NJ basic estate administration, NJ basic estate planning, NJ civil or criminal trial preparation, NJ family law practice, NJ real estate closing procedures, NJ trust and business accounting, NJ landlord/tenant practice, NJ municipal court practice, NJ worker's compensation law, and NJ law office management. One of these credit hours must be in New Jersey attorney trust & business accounting fundamentals. Attorney Credits does not offer courses for newly admitted New Jersey attorneys.
