Fourteen credit hours every year - including 2 required hours of legal ethics. In addition, at least once every 2 years, you must complete 1 hour of substance abuse. The substance abuse credit is part of the general CLE requirement and cannot be applied to satisfy the legal ethics requirement.
A maximum eight of the 14 credit hours can be taken online through Attorney Credits.

Newly admitted attorneys are exempt from MCLE requirements during the reporting year that they are admitted to the South Carolina Bar. Before the end of the first required reporting year, newly admitted members admitted pursuant to Rule 402, SCACR, unless exempt , must complete and Essentials Series course administered by the South Carolina Bar in addition to regular CLE requirement.
Yes, up to 14 live credit hours may be carried over to the next compliance period, including 2 hours of legal ethics. Extra substance abuse hours will only be applied to the general requirement. Please note that MCLE credit from online MCLE courses may NOT be carried forward to the next compliance period.
Yes, under the South Carolina MCLE Requirements we must monitor your completion of the course. For online streaming video courses you must click on randomly inserted pop ups to confirm that you are viewing the video.
Yes, Attorney Credits does report your completed courses to the Supreme Court of South Carolina Commission on CLE and Specialization. Our automated attendance reports email the South Carolina weekly on Thursday. In addition, we also maintain a record of all your completed courses and you can access your certificates of completion at anytime from our website.
In January, the Supreme Court of South Carolina Commission on CLE and Specialization will mail you an MCLE compliance report. If the information in your MCLE compliance report is accurate and you have completed your required South Carolina MCLE, you must sign the annual report, have it notarized, and return it before March 1. If your compliance report is incomplete or inaccurate, you need to cure any CLE deficiency or make any necessary corrections to the form and return it before March 1.
