How many CLE hours are required?

Twelve credit hours every year - including 1 required live hour of Professionalism and 1 required live hour of Recognition and Avoidance of Harassment and Discriminatory Conduct or Communication.

How many CLE hours can I take through Attorney Credits?

A maximum of 5 credit hours each year of the general requirement can be taken with Attorney Credits.

How do Attorney Credits' CLE courses qualify for credit in Maine?

All of our online and downloadable on-demand CLE courses have been approved for CLE credit by the Maine Board of Overseers of the Bar.

What are my CLE compliance and reporting requirements?

Can I carry hours forward to the next year?

Yes, up to 10 credit hours may be carried over to the next compliance period, provided that the professionalism and recognition and avoidance of harassment requirements are satisfied for each year.

Does Attorney Credits verify my completion?

Yes, under the Maine CLE Requirements we must monitor your course attendance and completion. For online streaming video courses you must click on randomly inserted pop ups during the video to confirm that you are viewing the course. For downloadable CLE courses we have embedded numeric codes in the courses. You must write these number codes down and then enter them on our website after you complete the course to obtain your course certificate. Please note that the date you enter the codes and get the certificate is the date that will be printed on the certificate.

Does Attorney Credits report my CLE hours to the Maine Board of Overseers of the Bar?

No. Attorney Credits does not report your completed courses to the Maine Board of Overseers of the Bar. Maine attorneys must self-report their hours. We do maintain a record of all your completed courses and you can access your certificates of completion at anytime from our website.

How do I report my CLE hours to the to the Maine Board of Overseers of the Bar?

You must send in your properly executed certificates of completion to the Maine Board of Overseers of the Bar.

How do I report the completion of my CLE requirement at the end of my compliance period?

When you file your annual registration statement, you must sign and submit your Annual Report to the Maine Board of Overseers of the Bar. The Annual Report must list the course titles, dates, locations, sponsors and number of credit hours of all CLE activities completed during the preceding calendar year. Registration statements must be filed before August 31.
