State Reporting

Maine attorneys must self report to the Maine Board of Overseers of the Bar. When you file your annual registration statement, you must sign and submit your Annual Report to the Maine Board of Overseers of the Bar. The Annual Report must list the course titles, dates, locations, sponsors and number of credit hours of all CLE activities completed during the preceding calendar year.

State Rules

Maine attorneys are required to take 12 CLE credit hours each year. At least 1 live credit hour of professionalism and 1 live credit hour of recognition and avoidance of harassment are required. Maine attorneys can take 5 general hours of the required 12 CLE credits online through Attorney Credits.

An attorney who completes more than their Maine Bar CLE requirement in a calendar year may carry forward up to 10 additional hours to satisfy the requirement of the following year, provided that the professionalism and recognition and avoidance of harassment requirements are satisfied for each calendar year.
