The Oregon Minimum Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) Rules have been adopted by the Oregon Supreme Court. The MCLE program is administered by the OSB Board of Governors, which appoints the Oregon MCLE Committee and operates the MCLE Department. The MCLE rules require that all regular active members of the Oregon State Bar complete 45 hours of approved continuing legal education activities each 3 year reporting period. Of those 45 hours, 5 must be legal ethics credits, 1must be elder and child abuse reporting obligations, and 1 credit hour of mental health. In alternate reporting periods, at least 3 of the required hours must be in programs accredited for Access to Justice. All credits must be completed by midnight on April 30 of the reporting period. Oregon attorneys must still file a completed compliance report with the Oregon State Bar MCLE Department certifying completion of the members MCLE requirement, on a form that is provided by the Oregon MCLE Administrator. The compliance report must be filed on or before 5:00 p.m. onMay 31 of the year immediately following the members reporting period. Credits may be claimed only for programs that have been approved for credit by the MCLE Department. Attorney Credits courses have all been pre-approved by the Oregon State Bar MCLE Department.
